THE CAUSE: ABOUT NAMI BILLINGS

Sharing Hope . . . Improving Lives

We educate, support, and advocate for all those affected by mental illness.

NAMI Billings was founded in 1995 by a small group of families who were frustrated by their need for information about mental illness and support in their struggles. Out of their concerns, commitment and hard work, NAMI Billings was born.

Today, we are an organization of families, individuals with mental illness, friends, and professionals dedicated to improving the quality of life for those affected by life-changing brain disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression.

NAMI Billings provides education, individual and group support and advocacy for individuals with mental illnesses and for their loved ones.  For many people suffering with mental illness, NAMI Billings is a virtual lifeline, offering tools and hope for a productive and happy life. We make positive changes to the public’s perception of mental illness and provide accurate information about the personal, social and economic challenges faced by people living with mental illness.

NAMI Billings offers support groups and educational programs for people with mental illnesses, their family members and the general public. Our services are provided at no charge, and we receive no government support nor funds from other levels of NAMI. We are supported almost entirely by the local community. Most of our services are provided by trained volunteers who have personal experience either in recovery from a mental illness or as a family member.

We are committed to providing information and exceptional supportive and educational experiences to improve quality of life and promote wellness.
